“Inner Style” is a two word term that most men and women have heard. We hear these words all over TV, we read about “Inner Style” in magazines, and do not need a dictionary to understand what is meant when one makes reference to it. Having said that, when we do not have a personal shopper or a Rachel Zoe, how do we as individuals find our “inner style”? Inner Style can be found by taking a series of steps. This concept came to me as I assisted my Sister in finding articles of clothing that can be matched and paired together multiple times for various ensembles for work and leisure. In fact, I helped my Sister so much over the years that I have decided to bottle this “how to find your inner style” manual up and sell you, the reader, my idea. I compare this to baking a cake. Once you have all of your ingredients, the baking part comes easy…
So here are the INGREDIENTS:
1) Pull out everything in your closet (articles of clothing that is…). After that, lay out all of your shoes, scarves, coats, blazers, jeans, slacks, t-shirts, and blouses so that everything is visible…
2) Get organized. Find a system where the end result is composed of only clothing that you will wear. Old clothes and things that you will never wear again will not go back in your closet. Set all of the things that you will never wear again to the side.
3) Coordinate your articles of clothing by type (pants with pants, shirts with shirts, skirts with skirts, dresses with dresses, etc) then coordinate those articles of clothing by color.
4) After completing steps #1-4, you are ready to “bake your cake” or find your inner style.
BAKING YOUR CAKE (answer the following questions):
1) What colors are dominant in your wardrobe?
2) Which articles of clothing dominate your wardrobe?
3) Group the information from questions #1 and #2 above.
These groupings are your “Inner Style”. You will find that the things that you have a lot of in your closet make up your “Inner Style”. These articles of clothing give your wardrobe meaning or significance. When you adore certain articles of clothing more than other articles of clothing, then you should utilize these articles are core essentials in your wardrobe. After that buy other articles to accent your core essentials and this, my Friends, determines your INNER STYLE.
